Yes, from 1 January 2026 health insurance is mandatory for all foreign citizens entering Georgia. According to the new decree, tourists must have health and accident insurance upon entering the country. The policy must be valid for the entire period of stay.
Visitor insurance covers up to 30,000 GEL and includes: 24/7 telephone support (no limits), emergency medical care (no limits), outpatient services (up to 10,000 GEL), repatriation. The deductible is 100 GEL for each case.
The cost of compulsory insurance for tourists is from 3.5 GEL per day. You can take out a policy for any length of stay - from several days to a year. The policy is issued by email within a few minutes after payment.
If an insured event occurs, use the assistance number indicated in your policy or contact GeoCover. The support team will help organize next steps and necessary medical care.
The deductible is the amount that the insured person pays independently each time he applies. To insure visitors, the deductible is 100 GEL per case. It applies to all services except the 24/7 hotline, repatriation and emergency medical assistance.
