New regulation
The Government of Georgia adopted a decree from January 1, 2026, obliging all foreign citizens to have health insurance. Checks are carried out at all points of entry.
Who does it apply to?
The commitment applies to: tourists, business travelers, digital nomads, transit passengers (more than 24 hours), exchange students, anyone who is not a Georgian citizen or resident with local insurance.
Minimum Requirements
Insurance must cover emergency medical care with a minimum of 30,000 GEL, be valid for the entire period of stay, and be from a licensed company. All GeoCover plans exceed minimums.
