The same headline limit does not mean the same protection. Important differences are often found in exclusions, event definitions, sub-limits, and prior-approval rules.
In this guide+
Pre-existing and chronic conditions
Routine monitoring and planned chronic treatment are often excluded. An acute, unexpected deterioration may be treated separately and have its own limit. Read the definitions and disclose material medical information when requested.
Sports, outdoor activities, and hazardous pursuits
Mountain trekking, skiing, climbing, motorsports, and similar activities may require an extension. A normal walk and a technical ascent are different risks, so compare the exact activity list rather than the plan name.
Alcohol, unlawful conduct, and intentional acts
Events linked to intoxication, unlawful conduct, or intentional acts are commonly excluded. Causation and evidence are assessed under the policy wording and facts of the event.
Pregnancy, dental care, and planned treatment
Routine checks, childbirth, and ordinary dental work are not the same as an unexpected emergency. Even when cover exists, a gestational limit, narrow benefit definition, or separate sub-limit may apply.
Deductibles and prior approval
A deductible is the share paid by the traveller and may apply to each event. An unapproved clinic visit can change payment treatment or cause rejection when no emergency prevented contact with assistance.
